About Mission ShakthiSAT

This Mission ShakthiSAT is an initiative to bring 12000 young girls from 108 countries across the world. This is world's first only girls global lunar CubeSat mission to design, assemble and launch sattelites. It is organised by an aero startup Sapce Kidz India which is based in Chennai. This startup is in collaboration with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) , UK based Space Command and IN-Space.

What is the aim of this mission?

This Mission ShakthiSAT will work on Dual-Satellite Objective. It means they are buiding two satellites. Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Lunar Orbiter Playload

LEO is an orbital which extends from Earth's surface 150 kilometers to altitube of 2000 kilometers. The program is planning to launch this LEO satellite in second week of October this year from a ISRO vehicle based in Shriharikota. 

The second satellite is a Lunar Orbiter Playload. It will be designed to study the Moon's environment and to show low expansive deep space technology. It will be developed in partnership with Japan exploration firm space. Mission ShakthiSAT is planning to lauch it most probably in next year (2027).

Kandula Jessie is a 14 year old girl. She is studying in Class 10. Kandula Jessie is from Andhra Pradesh chosen for this mission as one of the 20 Indian participants. By doing so, she has brought glory to India's name on the global stage.

What was the selection process for this Mission ShakthiSAT Space Program?

The selection process was very hectic because 108 countries are participated in this selection process and nearly 12000 registrations submitted across the world. 

Kandula Jessie is only student selected form Andhra Pradesh as one of the 20 Indian girls who are selected for this program. She finished approx 500+ online sessions and 20+ module on satellite systems, thermodynamics and propulsion. For the selection she cleared one-hour international scientific interview and one video presentation.
